CASHMERE LOVES WATER!

  • Soak in warm water with a quality mild detergent and let them soak for about 10-15 minutes.
  • “Massage” without twisting or rubbing it .
  • Rinse with clean, warm water.

  • Wash with delicate program for woollens at 30°.
  • Below 30° the dirt particles do not dissolve.
  • Above 30° the fibre risks felting.

  • Don't wash it every time you wear it!
  • After a day of use, leave it in the open air.

WARNINGS

IN THE FIRST PHASES OF USE OF A PURE CASHMERE GARMENT, AN EXCESS OF SURFACE FIBRE, COMMONLY CALLED “PILLING”, MAY APPEAR.

Pilling is that particular process that leads to the formation of small irregular balls of fibres called “pills”.

These dots are formed due to rubbing or friction mechanisms, and are not to be considered a sign of lower quality of cashmere , but a natural consequence of use.

After two or three washes in water the excess fluff will disperse to make room for the “heart” of the fibre.

Cashmere is a natural textile fibre, obtained from the undercoat of the goat hyrcus, native to the mountainous regions of Asia.

The name derives from Kashmir, the Indo-Chinese-Pakistani territory where Europeans first discovered this fiber; it is a mountainous region, where cashmere goats find their habitat in the frozen plateaus above 1000 meters above sea level.

Currently, the best cashmere goats are raised in the Gobi Desert, between Mongolia and Inner Mongolia in China, and constitute the main economic activity of the local populations.

The strong temperature variations in the territories of origin have induced the animal to develop a form of adaptation characterized by thick fur, capable of protecting the goat from both low and high temperatures, making the fiber 10 times warmer and lighter than sheep's wool!

To collect it, a manual and non-aggressive combing of the coat is performed during the moulting season , which occurs in spring . As for the best quality hair , the duvet, the annual production is on average between 300 and 400 grams for each adult animal (in the same period an adult merino sheep or alpaca provides around 5 kg of wool).

The high quality of cashmere is due to the purity of the yarn and the section of the fibre (between 14 and 18 microns). The longer and thinner the fibre, the more valuable the cashmere you obtain!

A good quality cashmere sweater cannot cost little, a low cost cashmere garment hides poor quality yarn and the presence of impure fibers.
